“Our Heritage as a boost to our economy and cultural tourism”

Society: Municipal Council of Culture, Education and Youth at Torre Pacheco Town Hall

    Programme: Comenius

Description/ Objectives: The municipality of Torre Pacheco has an outstanding archaeological site in the DovesSima, in the Cabezo Gordo Hill. Its scientific excavation has highlighted important discoveries about the Neanderthal Man. In the evolutionary scale, this is the last link known before Homo Sapiens appeared four hundred thousand years ago.

The project is organized around three main objectives which correspond to the three large sections into which the project is divided:
    1. Getting to know the artistic and cultural treasures in our municipality, under a didactic perspective, so that our young pupils know their artistic and cultural heritage and the institutions involved in the Project find all the consequences derived from this knowledge, not only from a didactic point of view but also social and economic.
    2. Divulgate our heritage locally, regionally, nationally and internationally in order to settle links with other regions and share the warmth and hospitality of our municipalities.
    3. Studying and developing the economic possibilities derived from our heritage. In order to know the business web Torre Pacheco has in relation to this activity as much as our deficiencies and the learning needs to develop such activities.
